BIRDS FOUND IN THE BORO AREA DURING WINTERTIME

Although much of nature is dormant during wintertime, birds are still active and easier to see with leafless trees and wide-open vistas.  With a bird feeder outside and an interior window view, birdwatching from the comfort of home is both easy and relaxing. Venturing outdoors to local parks near water, such as Renfrew, Buttonwood Nature Center, or Antietam Meadow Park, it’s possible to spy larger birds such as hawks, great blue herons, waterfowl, and even bald eagles. Below is a selection of bird species that are commonly seen in the Waynesboro area during winter.
